| WELCOME NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT The Michigan Vascular Society’s next regular meeting will be held on May 22, 2008, at the usual location in the Hotel Baronette, Novi, Michigan. Our speaker will be Robert D. Brook, M.D., Assistant Professor in Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, from the University of Michigan. He will update the membership on “State-of-the-art lipid Management”. Several of our members got a preview of this talk at the scientific meeting of the Michigan State Medical Society and felt this will be a timely topic. At our fall meeting, scheduled for September 25, 2008, we are pleased to be able to host Michael S. Makaroun, M.D., Professor and Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery, Director of Endovascular Surgery, and Director of the Vascular Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. His topic will be “How to establish a vascular residency/fellowship; multiple training paradigms.” The fall afternoon scientific session will again be held in October 2008 by the Michigan State Medical Society Foundation. Final date TBA but we may be moving to Thurs 8-12 instead of our past Friday afternoon slot. The topic will be thromboembolic disease. Speakers and specific talk titles still to come; stay tuned.
